Two-player games you can play on one keyboard
Local co-op and versus games for two people sharing a single laptop: puzzles, fighting, racing and sports.
Local multiplayer never actually died — it just moved into browser tabs. The format is the same as it was on a shared arcade cabinet: one screen, two sets of keys, no accounts and no invite codes.
The trick to a good one-keyboard game is control layout. WASD against the arrow keys works; anything needing a mouse for both players does not.
The picks

1. Fireboy and Watergirl 1 Forest Temple
The gold standard. Genuine co-op where neither player can finish alone.
Play Fireboy and Watergirl 1 Forest Temple
2. 2 Player Crazy Racer
Split-screen racing that stays readable on a laptop display.
Play 2 Player Crazy Racer
3. Head Soccer Football
Two buttons each, endless arguments. Perfect versus filler.
Play Head Soccer Football
5. Snake Football
A strange hybrid that works precisely because the rules are so simple.
Play Snake Football
One warning from experience: agree on the controls before the first round, not after somebody loses. It saves the friendship.
